There once was a man unmatched in bravely during his time. A true hero. This was a man known for his goodness and honor. Hussein was the son of Ali, grandson of the holy prophet, and a man like no other. Rising up to save the message of Islam in a mission of sacrifice with his friends and family members in a truly unforgettable experience. On the 15th of Rajab, 60 A.H, the ruler of Damascus Mu’awiya died. His son Yazid was to become the ruler But Yazid was a man who had a reputation for being unkind towards people And whilst he was to forcefully become the leader of the Muslims. He threatened that if Hussein did not support him then he would be killed. Hussein did not want to support Yazid, Because it would mean that he would be supporting the wrong acts that Yazid did. In his famous speech Hussein said: "I'm not rebelling loudly, rudely, dishonestly, or cruelly I'm speaking up to fix the matters of my grandfather's community and the community of my father Ali." Hussein decided to leave his home knowing that his life and the life of his family would be a danger if he stayed in Medina. so on Sunday 29th of Rajab Hussein and his family left Medina to head towards the holy city of Mecca Traveling 428 kilometers across four nights and five days Hussein eventually arrived in the city of Mecca on Friday 4th of Shaban. Mecca was busy with preparations （for hadj）, and as the days of Haj were approaching Hussein learned that the governor of Medina, Umar ibn Saud has followed him to Mecca with orders given by Yazid to assassinate him. upon learning this, Hussein decided to leave Mecca with his family. He gave his sermon before leaving, telling his friends and family that if they wanted to protect Islam they should join him by standing against the oppression and injustice that was happening. News had reached Kufa of Hussein's refusal to give support Yazid. Thousand of people leaving in Kufa wrote letters to Hussain telling him that they wanted him to help and stand up to Yazid. Hussein sent his cousin Muslim ibn Aqeel ahead to represent him in gathering the followers. Kufa was a powerful city with a greater military than Mecca and Medinah. With the hope of gaining more supporters, Hussein and his followers slowly began to make their way towards Kufa, Passing a number of cities including Ajfar. 23 days before Ashura, Hussein and his camp reached Khuzaiymiya to rest. The next day the caravan of Hussein continued their journey onwards towards Kufa. Briefly stopping at Zarud. whilst resting there, a man by the name of ”Bucare” told Hussein that his beloved cousin ”Muslim” and his loyal friend ”Honi” had been killed in a terrible way. Everyone began to cry at this sad news. These two brave and loyal men were first to die protecting Hussein and Islam. Hussein, his family, and companions had no choice but to continue their journey towards Iraq. Arriving at “Al Shik aka” 20 days before Ashura. It was here where they met with a man who was coming from Kufa. This man told Hussein that people of Iraq had turned against him and we're planning to fight against him too With an army behind them and an army ahead of them the fate of Hussein and his family was sealed It was 18 days before Ashura when Hussein was 457 kilometers away from Karbala In a town called ”Al Aqaba” When he had a dream about his grandfather the holy prophet Hussein said: I dreamt that it was as if some dogs we're attacking and biting me and there was a dog with a black and white spots that was the harshest in his attack I feel that the person who will kill me will be an exile amongst my enemies and after that I dreamt that the prophet of God with a group of his companions around me told me: You are the martyr of this community and the residents of heaven and paradise have announced good tidings of your arrival When Hussein wakes up he tells his friends that they will be killed with him if they continue the journey with him He told them that they will be welcome to leave so they did not have to suffer the same fate as him The journey continued with the remaining loyal companions and with Hussein and his family moving forward to avoid the army of Yazid catching up with them 17 days before Ashura, Hussein and his family reached ”Sheraf” In Sheraf Hussein came across a man called ”Hurr” It is here that Hussein recited his famous two speeches In his first speech Hussein says: O, people! This is a statement from God Almighty as proof for you I did not travel towards you until your letters reach me Inviting me to help guide you towards the right path If this is still your opinion then support me If you have changed your mind then I will return to where I came from. then after prayers, Hussein gave his second speech saying: "We are the household of the prophet and more understanding of the affairs of the community than Those people who are committing crimes and increasing hatred."
