The Summary: The Emerson CQC-7BTS is one of many excellent offerings coming from Emerson Knives out of Torrance, California. Durable, reliable, sharp, fast-opening, and solid are words that describe everything this knife is about. Whether it's for combat applications, heavy working needs, or every-day carry, this knife is built to last and provides a lifetime of heavy usage. The Company: Emerson Knives started in Torrance, California in 1996 after the demand for Earnest Emerson's custom-made knives began to outgrow his garage workbench. Many of Emerson's knives and design features have been pioneered through the personal working relationship Emerson enjoys with the U.S. Navy SEALS, based out of nearby San Diego. Today they make world-renowned knives that don't quit. Emerson makes quality American-made product that is built to last. The Nutnfancy Emerson Interview Video from Shot Show 2012: • NUTNFANCY SHOT 2012: Emerson Knives, Phil... The Details: The CQC-7 first came out in 1997 and is still offered virtually unchanged 16 years later. The Intended Deployment (ID) of this knife is hard-usage, whether it's on the battlefield, in the toolbox, or in your pocket. The 154CM Stainless Tool Steel, 0.125 inch-thick blade is prepared to take a beating and last for the long haul. The blade is finished in a tough and durable black Teflon coating, which doesn't quit --while the chisel-cut blade allows for easy in-the-field sharpening for extended mission use. The titanium liner decked with G10 fiberglass handles means the knife will provide strength, protection, and stellar grip in sweaty or dirty hands. The 3.25 inch blade is at an excellent, useable length that makes sense for this type of knife, and it folds in to make an overall 4.75 inch package. The knife can be had for usually $150-$200 depending on where you get it, and I think it price tag represents a tremendous value for the knife you're getting. Overall Length: 8.00" Blade Length: 3.25" Blade Thickness: 0.125" Blade Material: 154CM (Stainless) Blade Rockwell: 57-59HRC Opening Mechanism: Wave Lock: Liner Lock Closed Length: 4.75" Handle Material: G10 Liner(s): Titanium Clip: Stainless Steel Weight: 4.90 oz. Country of Origin: USA I have no affiliation with GP Knives, but they are the cheapest place I've found the CQC-7B as of September of 2013. Here's a link: http://www.gpknives.com/emerson-waved... Final thoughts: I'm an average guy on an average budget just like most of my viewers. I have no affiliations with any company and I am not sent samples or given benefits for positively reviewing anything. I just review it and if I like it then I recommend it, plain and simple. For those who have seen my other videos, I also critique and call out gear when it sucks and I hope to be as objective as possible to help us all buy the right gear with our money.
