Paducah is a small town in the Texas Panhandle, located near Oklahoma. An early winter storm just hit the area, with snow and ice! The roads are starting to clear and the ice is beginning to melt as the first people are starting to get out after the storm and go about their day. It's still overcast from the storm, and the wind is strong gusts of cold air across the plains. Paducah, Texas has lots of bright reddish orange buildings made out of bricks and cobblestone streets made out of the same bright color. Paducah, Texas has a population of approximately 1200 people. It is a small town and many people in the area are farmers. Paducah is the county seat of Cottle County. Paducah is where the Cottle County courthouse is located. Paducah has a traditional town square, with the Cottle County courthouse in the middle, surrounded by a square of small businesses. Unfortunately many of the businesses that formerly made up this town square or downtown area are closed, and some of the buildings are in significant disrepair or collapse. During this scenic driving tour we will explore some of the area around the town of Paducah as well and drive into the unincorporated areas of Cottle County, which consists largely of farmland. We will also drive to a local school, where we can see that the street was painted to celebrate school spirit with foot prints from the mascot.
