The first player-only MD unit to catch my eye, Sharp's MD-DS8, tested the limits of tolerance I have for be lied to. I bought it, liked it, and subsequently fell out of love with Sharp's marketing, and the greater body of apology built around it. Despite that, I never abandoned Sharp's portable Auvi 1-Bit Minidisc catalogue, and went on to purchase and use five separate units. These are my words about the MD-DS8/9. They are not good words.
