In this episode of The Art of Creation, we step into the Alia Vitae workshop to witness the rebirth of an icon: the Dora Lamp, originally designed in the early 1970s by André Cazenave. With no access to the original manufacturing techniques, the Alia Vitae team embarked on a six-month journey of experimentation and deep material study to faithfully recreate these stone-like luminaires. The result is a tribute to Cazenave’s vision, one that bridges brutalist minimalism and quiet magic. Each Dora lamp is handmade, using a process that combines resin, fiberglass, and a final coat of marble powder, which gives the piece its mineral texture and luminous depth. The objects are not only functional; they are emotional, bringing nature, memory, and craft into living spaces.
