The tenth generation Thunderbird performance model came with a supercharged and intercooled version of the 3.8 L OHV V6 which was used to power the high performance Thunderbird Super Coupe, also called Thunderbird SC for short. The Thunderbird Super Coupe was Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 1989. This Super Coupe has a Mazda-derived, M5R2 5-speed manual transmission. It is painted Bright Red and complimented with a black leather interior. Owner states that this Thunderbird SC was built by Ford as a "Marketing Vehicle" and believes it was driven and sign by NASCAR great Jeff Gordon. Ford supposedly gifted this car to Jeff Gordon following his 1991 Busch series Rookie of the Year season.
