The View from the Back of the Band #1 -Bullet Train-

Here is the tune Bullet Train by Mike Mainieri played on a recent live concert at the Bechtler Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC. I have played on this jazz series for 12 years. Every concert has a different theme and different band so everything is charted out. You really never know what's going to happen on these gigs which is the beauty of improvised music. I have put the same lead sheet I used for the gig up so you can take a look. These gigs are usually done with one short rehearsal before showtime so good reading skills are a must for these concerts. Personel is Ziad Rabie, Sax Al Strong, Trumpet Phillip Howe, piano Nelson Rios, Bass Jim Brock, Percussion Rick Dior Drums The video was recorded with 3 cheap Zoom cameras so please excuse the poor audio mix and video quality. The audio is recorded next to the drums so they may seem loud at times.
