Although adequate, I had thought about modifying the cross feed on the S7, including a thrust bearing as I have on the other lathes. Correctly adjusted it is silky smooth as original, but it takes quite some tweaking and there is also some play (at least on mine.. even though a new replacement from Myford it wasn't 100% "out of the box".. being a 2 piece design, ie. the screw is pinned to a mating hole in the feed assembly there is the possibility of some smaller machining tolerance "issues"). So I ended up with a pair of thrust bearings, and it seems this took care of the play. What remains, 0.02 mm (or less than 0.001 inch) must be down to the nut itself. Anyway.. I think I got it as good as can be.. or? Update: I modified the bracket on the inner side too, so to accept the bearing in full depth
