The Lie That Cost a Politician the Presidency

In 1990 a politician named Brian Lenihan, who was the front runner for the Irish Presidency, gave a bizarre interview in which he contradicted something he had said on the record a few months earlier. The problem was there was audio evidence of Lenihan's earlier statement and few were willing to buy his new story.
