Hello :) This is the requested transcription I did of the Eric Clapton song "It's In the Way That You Use It" from his 1986 album "August". Laurence Cottle was the bass player on this track. This transcription can be found at https://www.muzento.com under Intermediate - Learning Songs subject. I always thought it was Nathan East played bass on this track, but I found online it was Laurence Cottle. I like the rhythm in this bass line. I think it really helps move the song. Without it's rhythmic interest the song would be a little dull as it's basically the same chord progression and lick for the whole song. But again, I think the bass and it's rhythm make it more interesting and helps it move. I started transcribing this on a 4 string and got just a few bars from the end until he put in this big run down to a low B, and then he did it again! Sorry 4 string guys. But if you want to put in a couple of your own licks, then this could be done on a 4 string quite nicely. Could it have been a fretless too? Keep your touch on the lighter side and pay attention to the rhythms ;) I hope you have fun with it :) Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe :) -------------- If you appreciate what I do and or find it helpful, I hope you might consider supporting me through the following: GregsTranscripts - https://www.gregstranscripts.com/ Muzento - https://www.muzento.com Patreon - / gregfairweather or you can make a donation through PayPal at - https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted... ------------------- Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy :) Copyright Disclaimer: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
