This video revisits the Have a Go Spaghettio! Success Helper approach to early childhood Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Today we focus on the RED Success Helper capability called 'I'm worthwhile' crocodile!' This habit of thinking, feeling and behaving is what Dr. Albert Ellis, creator of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, calls Unconditional Self-Acceptance (USA). This is the belief that there are no conditions to our value or worth, though others might want to tell you that you are only OK when they decide you are!' We want young learners to develop a philosophically rational habit of thinking where their approval of themselves outweighs that of others, not in a conceited or arrogant manner but by accepting the evidence that they have unconditional worth. This is what Dr. Ellis wanted for people and he famously said that 'the future of psychotherapy was in the school system.' 'I'm worthwhile crocodile' thinking, is a Have a Go Spaghettio! Success Helper (rational) way of thinking. It's Brain Friend thinking and it makes BF feelings and behaviours.
