A final tribute to 2011 ORTT recipient Helen Bhagwansingh, the first businesswoman to enter the Local Business Hall of Fame. Family and friends gathered at the Aramalaya Presbyterian Church in Tunapuna on Sunday to celebrate the varied contributions of Mrs. Bhagwansingh. During the eulogy, Ariana Bhagwansingh-Ragoo took pride in the achievements of her grandmother, describing her as the most successful businesswoman in the country. Known by many for her philanthropy, the head of the Bhagwansingh Hardware chain had several causes close to her heart. She established the Helen Bhagwansingh’s Diabetes Education, Research and Prevention Trust. Mrs. Bhagwansingh died on October 30th. She was 83.
