OSEP Parent Center Network Call: Questions and Answers on Serving Children with Disabilities Placed by Their Parents in Private Schools On occasion you may receive questions from parents who have placed their child with a disability in a private school or are considering enrolling their child in a private school at their own expense. During this webinar, OSEP staff will review its recently released guidance, Questions and Answers on Serving Children with Disabilities Placed by Their Parents in Private Schools and highlight key questions and answers that address the rights of parents of children with disabilities who are placed by their parents in private schools, who are not enrolled in the LEA, and for whom the provision of a free appropriate public education is not at issue. Learn about the specific questions and answers that may be helpful to parents in understanding their rights, including their child’s right to an evaluation and reevaluation under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and to be considered for equitable services from the local educational agency (LEA) in which the private school is located.
