Fire strikes Worcester, Ma 3 decker, spreads to exposure

Shortly after 5am on Monday, February 17th, multiple calls came in reporting a structure fire. Engine 5 struck a 2nd alarm enroute after seeing the flames from a distance. A 3rd alarm was struck minutes after command arrived on the scene. Icy and snowy conditions hampered response and firefighting efforts as companies who were on a previous call, had a delayed response because they were stuck on an icy street and had to wait for a sander to salt the street. Considering the fire and weather conditions, temperatures that were in the single digits, Worcester's bravest made quick work stopping the fire in the exposure and knocking down the heavy fire in the main fire building. The fire was brought under control in about 1.5 hours.
