As Allied troops advanced across Europe, they liberated thousands of Nazi concentration camp prisoners who had experienced unimaginable brutality and inhumanity. Survivors struggled to restore their health, regain their dignity, and rebuild their lives after years of mistreatment, starvation, and forced labor. US General Dwight D. Eisenhower went to Ohrdruf concentration camp in April 1945 to see for himself, and encouraged other officials and journalists to do the same, so that the news could not be dismissed as propaganda. Hear about that time from camp survivors and the military veterans who liberated or treated them.
