Ya’at’teeh! Aaron Tsosie here — the person behind the camera! This video features Sunday’s Grand Entry and Intertribals from The Cabazon Indio Pow Wow 2025. I wasn’t able to film the full weekend like I normally do, since I missed the window to request permission from the tribe ahead of time. Because of that, I kept things respectful and mostly took photos and phone footage on Friday and Saturday. But by Sunday, I noticed that none of the camera people were being questioned or stopped. Nobody really minded what people were recording — but I’m different because my filming is nonstop, and I always want the pow wow committee to know who I am and what my purpose is. So I chose to record just Sunday’s Grand Entry and a few small moments, and honestly… that was good enough for me. It felt amazing to finally pick up my stripped-down video camera and film a Grand Entry again. After holding back all weekend, this one felt special. ⭐ Notes for anyone attending in the future Entry is free Parking is free (the dirt lot south of the parking garage is the best spot if you arrive early — super close to the pow wow grounds) The event is held inside the casino’s conference center, so bathrooms are clean and easy to access Dancers & singers get free water and soda by the MC stage (thank you to the casino for that!) On Saturday there was a community feed — I’m not sure if it was meant only for dancers and singers, but after an hour they opened it up and welcomed everyone. I was able to sit with the Arnold family and eat with them, which I appreciated so much I also finally understood why people reserve their seats with blankets. Last year I thought it blocked others from sitting closer, but after experiencing it myself, I get it — you just need to arrive early and respectfully claim your spot. Sitting close to the arena makes filming and taking photos a lot more meaningful, and it builds community too. This pow wow continues to be one of my favorite winter events. Even though I couldn’t film the entire weekend, I’m grateful for the moments I was able to capture. Hopefully next year I can officially record or even livestream the pow wow for YouTube.
