5 Verbs Form in English Grammar in Bangla. These are the forms of verb popularly known as verb 1 or V1, verb 2 or V2, verb 3 or V3, verb 4 or V4, verb 5 or V5. The five verb forms are base form, past simple form, past participle form, present participle form and 3rd person singular form. All the verbs forms are discussed with examples. Verbs change according to subject and time. As verbs change according to subject and time, verb has five forms, Base form (Verb 1 or V1) Past simple form (Verb 2 or V2) Past participle form (Verb 3 or V3) Present participle form (Verb 4 or V4) Third-person singular form (Verb 5 or V5) These 5 forms of verbs are used in all tenses, voice, mood and other verb structures. Let’s discuss all these five forms one by one. • Base form (Verb 1 or V1): These are the original and simplest form of the verb. We get it in the dictionary. Example: Play, Work, Laugh etc. We use this base form in Present indefinite tense (Except 3rd person singular number). • Past simple form (Verb 2 or V2): Show simple past tense. In regular verbs, it is ended with –ed/-d/-ied. In irregular verbs, no specific rule followed. Example: Played, Worked, Laughed etc. We use this form in Past indefinite tense. • Past participle form (Verb 3 or V3): These form generally has/have/had before it. Like past form, this form ended with –ed/-d/-ied. In irregular verbs, no specific rule followed. Example: Played, Worked, Laughed etc. We use this form in present participle tense, past participle tense and future participle tense. • Present participle form (Verb 4 or V4): It is the continuous or active form of a verb. Formula: Base form +-ing, This can be used as adjectives and gerunds. We use this form in present, past and future continuous tense and present, past and future perfect continuous tense. Example: Playing, working laughing etc. • 3rd person singular form (Verb 5 or V5): –s/-es is added with the base form of verb when it is third-person singular number and present indefinite tense.
