We see lots of dogs at the centre with luxating patellas. The severe cases require surgery to correct. But there are many things that can be done from a physiotherapy point of view to help dogs that have mild symptoms of this condition. Specific exercises will help increase your dogs muscle strength. In these cases, we place a huge emphasis on the quadricep muscle group which can help maintain correct alignment of the patella thereby reducing clinical symptoms.
