Exploring Caves in Florida

These areas in west central Florida have some very interesting geological features in that took millions of years to form. These places include karst, limestone, rock outcroppings and sinkhole formations along with caves throughout the areas. It is a very interesting to explore and observe these unique places here in nature along the nature coast. These features extend all the from middle of the state up into the panhandle along what is known as the Florida platform an ancient geological feature. If you would like to see some of these areas a great place is the Citrus tract in Withlacoochee State Forest. If you visit the panhandle check out the areas around Florida Caverns State Park for even more amazing sites. Please note that if you are going to explore any kind of caves or terrain like this be sure to have someone with you and be extremely safe as these places are dangerous to get lost or hurt in.
