The eggs get a bit soft after the jar has been open for a while and the trout will manage to get them off the hook easier. It does work well though and we have never been skunked since we discovered this bait (caught trout all 4 times we brought this with us). The trout will do a little zig zag as they approach it and get closer to it each pass before they finally bite. We have even caught bluegill and green sunfish on it. We want to try this as a panfish bait in August when the bite slows down tremendously.
