The alert level was just raised at a 2nd volcano in 2 days within Iceland, this time at the highly active Grímsvötn volcano. Grímsvötn is currently producing a glacial flood known as a jökulhlaup, and while this probably does not have a volcanic origin, the uncertainty and possibility that it could be volcanic in origin is worth discussing. This fissure swarm is lengthy, and produced a 15.7 cubic kilometer lava flow that was highly destructive from 1783 to 1784.
