#hiking #trail #australia In this hiking travel video join me on an incredible adventure as I hike the Andrew Hill Loop in Kinglake National Park, just a short drive from Melbourne, Victoria! In this video, I’ve captured the stunning natural beauty of this 8.3-mile (13.4 km) trail—think lush forests, rolling hills, and breath-taking landscapes that make this spot a hiker’s paradise. The trail itself is a moderate challenge, with steep climbs (especially up Andrew Hill!) and some slippery sections, but the payoff is worth it—peaceful scenery, vibrant wildlife, and a real sense of escape into nature. Kinglake National Park, sprawling across 22,360 hectares along the Great Dividing Range, is the largest national park near Melbourne, about 60 km northeast of the city. My footage showcases the regenerated bushland—still bouncing back from the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires—dotted with ferns, tall trees, and the occasional glimpse of wallabies, kangaroos, and colourful birds like cockatoos and rosellas. The Andrew Hill Loop mostly follows wide fire trails, making it easy to navigate, though that climb to the summit (around 634 meters) definitely got my heart pumping! No grand vistas from the top due to the dense forest, but the serene, green surroundings were pure magic. I loved filming the mix of landscapes—from the tranquil creek valleys to the scrubby hills—and chatting with campers enjoying this peaceful getaway. According to All Trails, this loop takes about 4 hours and 11 minutes on average, but I took my time soaking it all in (and filming, of course!). Whether you hike it clockwise for a gentler ascent or counter clockwise for a tougher workout, it’s a fantastic day out. Pro tip: wear sturdy shoes, bring water, and watch your step on the steeper bits! Have you hiked the Andrew Hill Loop?
