Free Gun Giveaway ►https://bit.ly/3sBoqCM For more great concealed carry info please visit: https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/ In this free firearms training video Michael Martin, chief firearms instructor for the USCCA, and Tim Schmidt, President and Founder of the USCCA, discuss the pros and cons of single action and double action guns. In a single action firearm the trigger performs a single function, that is, it releases the hammer (which means that the hammer already has to be cocked). In a double action firearm the trigger does two things - it cocks the hammer, then releases it. This equates to having to use more force with a double action firearm than a single action one. In a double action firearm you may to exert as much as 10-12 lbs of force in order for the gun to fire, whereas in a single action firearm can be as little as four lbs of force in order for the trigger to release and fir the gun. You will find that there are some firearms out there that are double action only (DAO) which means that the firearm can ONLY be fired in a double action mode.
