Introducing the newest truck in the local Waste Management (WM) fleet - Rear Load RL0781. This new white truck replaces the older red vehicle which has been on our roads since mid-2022. Although it is new to our fleet, it is sadly a second-hand vehicle which arrived with approximately 9,000km on the clock from a neighbouring city and different Waste Management (WM) branch where it was doing municipal waste collection. With a few modifications to this truck, such as being fitted out with a bin lift that weighs the bins as they are emptied, it is now ready for its new life as a commercial rear load truck. Knowing the driver, it will be well looked after too. A few differences between this truck and the old one, you may notice that it is a dual drive vehicle which allows it to be driven from both the driver's side and passenger side. This will be super helpful for this driver who has a rural route and could allow the driver to get in and out of the vehicle safely on the left-hand side without stepping out into live traffic on the driver's right-hand side. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸: The truck is a 2024 ISUZU F SERIES. Imported from Japan, New Zealand new October 2023, first registered July 2024. Gross Vehicle Mass: 12,000kg Tare Weight: 7,500kg CC rating: 7,790cc (7.8l) Power: 191kW Wheelbase: 4,515 Front Axle Group Rating: 5,000 Rear Axle Group Rating: 9,000 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤? The life of the old red truck is not yet over with an estimated mileage of 182,800km. It was in need of a few repairs, including a new floor on the body. Once this work is complete, it will be used in a neighbouring town which is managed by the same Waste Management (WM) branch as the new white truck operates in. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞? Great question and one I have wondered for many years myself but sadly I do not have a clear answer. From my observations, 90% of my branch's WM trucks are red in colour, with, until now, only relief/spare trucks being in white. Having travelled around New Zealand I've seen fleets of only white WM trucks operated by other WM branches. These trucks are usually under contract by councils to manage waste services whereas in my town, it is only private companies and residents who can opt into using WM services. I have wondered if this could be way of denoting what type of operation the truck does and maybe helps as a branding exercise and make them stand out on the streets or maybe WM is changing more to weight trucks as it is saves having to change their base colour? 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨: With access to multiple cameras, I wanted to produce a unique video which offers multiple points of view and some unique angles, all in one filming shoot, that may not otherwise be captured. Planning, setting up, recording and then editing these different shots together is challenging but part of the fun; it adds a new layer of skills and production quality to the video. It is also great to be able to provide comparison photos between the old and new trucks by filming in the same locations 3 years apart which gives a cool perspective of changes over time. The videos of the older trucks can be viewed on my channel by looking under the Waste Management play list. A massive thank you to the driver for putting up with my antics with different cameras being placed around and tolerating my filming while he goes about his work. I hope this video has done justice and really shows off this great truck and what hard work this driver puts in each day, 6 days a week. #rubbishtruck #garbagetruck #rubbish #garbage #waste #truck #wastemanagement #isuzu
