Geometry is a branch of mathematics that deals with shapes, sizes, positions, and properties of space. Here are the basic concepts of geometry explained simply: 🔹 1. Point A point shows an exact position. It has no size, length, or width. Represented by a dot (•) and named like A, B, C. 🔹 2. Line A line is a straight path that goes on forever in both directions. It has length but no thickness. Example: Line AB (↔) 🔹 3. Line Segment A part of a line with two endpoints. Has a fixed length. Example: Segment AB 🔹 4. Ray A line that starts from one point and goes infinitely in one direction. Example: Ray AB (→) 🔹 5. Angle Formed when two lines or rays meet at a point. Measured in degrees (°). Types of Angles: Acute Angle: Less than 90° Right Angle: Exactly 90° Obtuse Angle: Between 90° and 180° Straight Angle: 180° 🔹 6. Circle A round shape where all points are equal distance from the center. Important parts: Center: Middle point Radius: Distance from center to edge Diameter: Twice the radius Circumference: Boundary of circle 🔹 7. Polygon A closed shape made of straight lines. Common Polygons: Triangle (3 sides) Quadrilateral (4 sides) Pentagon (5 sides) Hexagon (6 sides) 🔹 8. Triangle A polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles. Types: Equilateral: All sides equal Isosceles: Two sides equal Scalene: All sides different 🔹 9. Quadrilateral A shape with 4 sides. Types: Square Rectangle Parallelogram Trapezium
