Unlike most of my channel, this is not a how-to knitting video. This video is a request. This small frame loom has an unusual cylinder device for changing sheds. It does not require cutting the warp or threading it through little holes and slots. I would like someone, please, to make more of these devices. I think I am not the only weaver who would enjoy them. I have no idea who made this or if there is a patent associated with it. In spite of my significant study and travels, I have never seen one of these gadgets in a magazine, book, or fiber festival booth. And I would like someone to figure out how to make these devices weave structures other than tabby, such as twill and basket weave. Could you do double weave with two of them, the way you can do double weave on a rigid heddle loom with two heddles? I am wondering if this could be a simpler alternative to a rigid heddle loom? If you develop such a tool, please post in the comments. Thank you! Edited to add: My friend Lin found a device like this. It is called a rotating heddle bar. There are a few makers on Etsy who have them, but none of the usual loom manufacturers seem to have adopted them yet. And I don't see any that weave structures other than tabby.
