RIP Mom ( A tribute to my loving Mother )

My mother Helena was born and raised in Chomutov in the Czech Republic. She often spoke about growing up in the communist country, the good things and of course the bad things. Unlike my father who had to escape the country to come to Canada my mother had an easy time, just got on an airplane to visit relatives in Toronto. She loved Canada so much that she never got on the returning flight and stayed in Canada. In Canada she met my father as they were introduced from her Polish aunt who met a Czech lady that turned out to be my father's mother. They were married shortly after and gave birth to Pavel Benda. Unfortunately he died in a freak accident as an infant. She later had two more children, myself and my older sister. Helena loved nature and we always enjoyed cottaging as a family. She brought her love of nature to our house by creating a wonderful garden. A garden so beautiful that the city gave her an award for it. She was always a no nonsense lady that practiced tough love. This made some weary at the beginning but as you grew to know her you know she cared about you and would do anything to help you. in 2022 she was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer and only given months to live. in Spring of 2023 she was hospitalized and told she won't make it back home. but she did make it home and even lived another full two years. She was a fighter and I called her the unsinkable Helena Benda. Her life here ended on April 9th 2025 after trying everything. She is at peace now with Zdenek and Pavel and all her loved ones who have waited for her. She is now yelling at annoying kids in Heaven and she will never be forgetten.
