The journey takes you through some of the most picturesque landscapes in India, including some of the most dangerous passes in the world. This road trip is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who are ready to take up the challenge and explore the beauty of Ladakh. Today, We are going to take you on an exciting journey from Srinagar to Leh by road. But what makes this trip extra special is that we are traveling with our 1.5-year-old son, Viraaj, in our trusty Mercedes GLE. So, buckle up and join us on this unforgettable adventure! We kick-started our road trip from Delhi and decided to take an overnight break in Jammu to rest and prepare ourselves for the breathtaking journey ahead. After a rejuvenating night's sleep, we continued our drive towards Srinagar. The anticipation was building up as we were about to embark on an incredible expedition through the mesmerizing landscapes of Kashmir. Upon reaching Srinagar, we were greeted by our Kashmiri friends who showed us the true essence of this enchanting place. Over the course of 10 days, we immersed ourselves in the beauty of Srinagar. We went on picnics along the river, enjoying the serene surroundings while our little one, Viraaj, delighted in the fresh air and vibrant colors. Our stay in Srinagar wouldn't have been complete without experiencing the world-famous Dal Lake. In the evenings, we embarked on a magical boat ride, gliding through the calm waters of Dal Lake. The view of the colorful houseboats, floating gardens, and the distant mountains was a sight to behold. It was an experience we will cherish forever. Now, it's time for the real adventure to begin! We set off from Srinagar early in the morning, precisely at 6 am, ready to conquer the challenging terrains that lay ahead. Our first major obstacle was the mighty Zoji La Pass. The narrow, winding roads and the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains left us in awe. The drive through Zoji La was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking, especially with our little one in the car. But we took it slow and steady, ensuring the safety of our precious Viraaj. After conquering Zoji La, we continued our journey and crossed two more high-altitude passes, namely Namik La and Fotu La. The rugged beauty of the mountains and the vastness of the landscapes left us speechless. We made sure to take breaks along the way to stretch our legs and let Viraaj enjoy the fresh mountain air. As we drove through Kargil and Lamayuru, we marveled at the historical significance of these places. The remnants of the Kargil War and the ancient monasteries of Lamayuru added a deeper layer to our journey. We stopped for a while in Kargil to pay our respects to the brave soldiers who fought valiantly for our nation. Finally, after a long and adventurous drive, we arrived in Leh at 11 pm. The sense of accomplishment and the breathtaking beauty of Leh welcomed us with open arms. We found a cozy place to rest and replenish our energy for the upcoming days filled with exploration and new experiences. Traveling from Srinagar to Leh by road was an incredible experience that allowed us to witness the sheer magnificence of nature. The road trip with our little bundle of joy, Viraaj, was undoubtedly challenging at times, but it made the journey even more memorable. We created lifelong memories, and we hope that Viraaj will cherish these moments as he grows up. That's it for today's vlog!
