Yézidis : Un genocide oublié 2024 | Keynote - Natia Navrouzov

We were honored to have Natia Navrouzov, Executive Director of Yazda Organization with us at our special session on the #Yazidi #Genocide at the Palace of Luxembourg. A French-qualified lawyer specializing in international law, human rights, and transitional justice, Natia Navrouzov closed her speech with these powerful words: “The response to genocide must be comprehensive and holistic, systematically including women. […] We must fight these extremist ideologies in Iraq and around the world, working on the root causes that lead to such crimes through education, dialogue, and the promotion of pluralistic societies. […] We need a transitional justice process that focuses on access to reparations for all victims, the prosecution of war criminals and those responsible for genocide, and the establishment of historical and legal truth, especially about those who failed to protect us.” Speech transcripts are available in the English, French, and Arabic languages on the Yazda website. This special session was co-hosted by French Senator Nathalie Goulet, Yazda, and the Zovighian Public Office. The session took place on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Luxembourg Palace in Paris, where we welcomed 15 speakers and panelists, a house of senators, survivors, and community members, and over 150 online attendees. We thank you for being with us and helping us build together a safe and trusted place for a much-needed conversation on the plight of the Yazidi people in Sinjar and the world.
