Cream's second single and the one that truly broke the band onto the national stage, showcasing their ability to blend hard blues rock with whimsical psychedelic arrangements. Peaking at #11 in the UK charts but flopping in the US charts (only #116 in Billboard), this song's music was written by Jack Bruce and lyrics were written by frequent collaborator Pete Brown. Jack Bruce takes on vocal duties here whilst also contributing the bassline and piano part. Clapton, as usual, does all of the guitar parts. Ginger Baker also does a fine job on drums. In the US release of their debut album "Fresh Cream," "I Feel Free" is the opening track to side 2. The song doesn't appear on the original UK album release at all. In creating this instrumental, I cut out the introduction section as I figured that nobody really wants to hear 30 seconds of hand claps. I used a mono mix as the official stereo mix of the song is absolutely horrendous--only a loud tambourine in the far left channel and all of the instrument squeezed into the far right channel.
