In this video we have some Long Island Railroad City Terminal Zone and West Hempstead Branch action at Nostrand Avenue station located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant. Nostrand Avenue station is one of three LIRR stations in Brooklyn and is situated along the Atlantic Branch. The LIRR Atlantic Branch is an electrified line that runs between Atlantic Terminal (formerly known as Flatbush Avenue) at its westernmost end and Valley Stream at its easternmost end. A connection to the NYC subway can be made at Atlantic Terminal. Subway service includes 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q and R trains. A connection to the NYC subway can also be made at Nostrand Avenue to the A and C trains by walking 2 blocks north. Long Island Railroad's City Terminal Zone Branch strictly runs in NYC territory, with service between Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn or New York Penn Station in Manhattan and Jamaica in Queens. Since the opening of Grand Central Madison on January 25th, 2023, LIRR schedules have changed. The West Hempstead Branch is a heavy rail route operated by Long Island Railroad that runs between Atlantic Terminal and/or New York Penn Station and West Hempstead. Most West Hempstead Branch trains originate from/terminate at Atlantic Terminal. West Hempstead Branch trains do not serve Grand Central.
