Allah Allah - beautiful Farsi noha with English subtitles

This is a beautiful farsi noha (Allah Allah) with English subtitles. It is a lament to God, a cry of longing for the return of the Messiah and a poem of mourning for Imam Hussain accompanied with matam or latum, recited during Muharram. It laments the state of the world, the decline of spirituality, the hatred and conflict in our times. It relates some of the story of Imam Hussain and Zainab, and decries the betrayal of the Imam by the Kufans. It hints that if Kufans betrayed Imam Hussain after calling for him, we must be careful not to to do the same when the Messiah returns. Since we call for God to send the Messiah, we must prepare ourselves in such a way that we will not repeat the Kufan's betrayal. It calls for people to awaken and follow the path of faith, love, and sacrifice demonstrated by Hussain. The translation is not word for word as the Farsi is very evocative and suggestive of several layers of meanings. Hopefully, the translation gives some sense of the intended meaning. O master of the blessed souls Save us from the loneliness of our separation from you Without you, oppressed hearts are dying It’s time for your return(2X) (O people) Cry out from the depths of your burdened hearts Cry out for Truth (Haqq)(2X) Break the heart’s confining cage Sing the melody of Truth Allah Allah Where is the dawn of Truth’s victory When will humanity’s affliction and suffering end The world is engulfed in songs of destruction Humanity is on a path of ruin On one side, oppression like a flood On another, calamity and sedition No roar of voices of truth No cries lifting our hopes Our hearts are in turmoil We are in loneliness and exile in this world Oppression has exceeded all bounds Hearts overflow with sorrow Tranquility and patience have fled this world Look at the malign enmity that raises its voice in the world Look at the smoke and fire On one side, bloodshed and slaughter On the other side, faith is distorted and destroyed. Allah Allah (chorus) Allah Allah This is our cry against the oppression of our times, Allah Allah This is our cry in the face of these demons of our time, Humanity in danger - lost, misguided Faith has lost its brightness in their hearts, Passions and greed have overcome them. O people of the city of supplication (companions of Hussain) Friends of the great witness to truth The awaited one is patient But today is your time and our time If the heart has faith it will trust in God And will come to the field of truth with courage and love The aware heart knows where the Qur’an should truly be read From a head raised on a spear, that speaks the lonely melody of truth Every day is Ashura, every day new cries of tribulations arise The world fills with tragedy Everywhere it looks like Karbala (chorus) The news from Kufa arrived Everyone desires his presence Everyone is passionate in their desire for Hussain’s arrival Everyone is an aspirant for the light of truth Allah Allah, shame on the breakers of the covenant The truest man of the time was abandoned, left alone in the battlefield against oppression. He came by their invitation, Woe to their turning away, where was their loyalty Alone on the day of battle, the transient world became the enemy of mankind When their word of faith was tested, when their word of promise was tested No loyalty, only disgrace Shame covered the people of Kufa The king of truthful hearts stood alone Heads were raised on spears And Zainab, Zainab remained alone From the spears, light From the chest’s, sighs of sorrow Zainab is the voice of truth in Nineveh Zainab is the speaking sword of Karbala (chorus) O sorrowful hearts, good news, the sadness of this world will fade The winter of the world will pass and another story will arrive Allah Allah, the season of hope will come The light of dawn will overcome the darkness A new colour of morning will come after this night, the time is arriving O companions in humanity, it is dawn, it is the time to awaken and stand O people with hearts loyal to truth, arise O people with free spirits, stand up We must cleanse our eyes and see the world with beautiful vision For how long must this era’s hell of hate and war go on Let us walk under the rain (of spiritual truth) We must wash rancour and hatred from our hearts The pain and separation of our loneliness must end Stand and let us unite, let us build a new world with love That day a new season of spring will begin That day a true knight (the Imam) will arrive (chorus)
