To invite this group for a live concert, please visit https://indianraga.com/live or email info@indianraga.com Tala Malika Alarippu, traditional Alarippu set to multiple Talams. Tala Malika Alarippu takes the traditional structure of the Alarippu, an invocation piece of a Bharatanatyam repertoire, and sets it to multiple Talams that increase in complexity. The composition goes through a beat cycle of 3,4,5,7,9,11,13 and back to 3. The change in Talam is mirrored in the quick changes in the number of dancers and the formations they design through their movements. With each Talam change, the raga or melody also changes; the ragas featured are Bilahari, Shubhapantuvarali, Kadanakuthuhalam, Rasikapriya, Hamsadhwani, Mayamalavagowla, Hamsanandi, Bilahari. The music and the Bols were specially created for this dance piece. Choreographed by Sophia Salingaros, the dancers performing this piece are Sophia Salingaros, Isha Parupudi, Navya Maitri Konda, Samyukhta Hari, Smrithi Suresh.
