A "Krukenberg tumor" specifically refers to a metastasis to the ovary, classically characterized by signet-ring adenocarcinoma cells, most commonly originating from a primary cancer in the Gastrointestinal tract (stomach, colon, appendix, pancreas) or sometimes the breast. Clinical Importance: Finding bilateral, solid ovarian masses, especially with signet-ring cells on pathology, should prompt an urgent search for a primary malignancy elsewhere, particularly in the GI tract (e.g., via upper endoscopy and colonoscopy).
