This is an update to the homemade evaporative cooler (swamp cooler) I made two years ago. I wanted all of you to see how it is running two years later. The original video I made is here: http://www.youtube.com/edit?ns=1&vide... I have since added a Lego air director to the front of the cooler so I can direct the air any where I want it. I have also switched cooling pads. The one in this video is a Duracool pad that can be found at large hardware stores. The water is a lot clearer than it was in my original video, and that is because of the pad. I have tried Aspen pads, but they are messy and make the water brown. These Duracool pads have the same cooling effect. I also built a second evaporative cooler from a smaller 10 gallon storage bin. I took out the innards from an air purifier and ionizer I picked up from Goodwill. I bolted that to the bin, and built another Lego frame to hold the cooling pad and the PVC pipe where the water comes out. Water Usage: I go through about one gallon every three hours depending on how dry it is. I have to fill it up because the water level will drop too low for the pump to work, so there is a still a little water in it before I dump in the 96 ounce bottle of water shown in the video.
