MUSIC: rhodeme©19JAN2026 WORDS: BACK TO LIFE The Boy in you first kissed the Girl in me amidst the mayhem - the place was crowded and full of distractions, and your stolen kiss came sudden and unexpected. Unfortunately, before I could even fully appreciate it, you were off again. It left me a little dazed and confused. I felt the whole world looking, and in that moment I was not worthy of your affection - at least not in the eyes of the crowd around us - because you left me standing there alone, so suddenly. I blushed. Yet you did not leave me standing there alone for long, soon you returned for a second, sudden and unexpected stolen kiss. But by then my eyes were turned towards the floor in shame, so that I hardly saw your face; and feeling out of place I said, "We could never live in the same day and age." It's been a while since then, our meeting was so brief that the Girl in me lost hope of ever seeing the Boy in you again - until you came to me this morning. You stood before me, face-to-face, as suddenly and unexpectedly as all your kisses. Yet this morning I found with you, no overwhelming crowd, no distractions to draw your eyes away from me, just you and me alone for once, up close and personal. And I could see your face clearly, observe your fair features mindfully, appreciate the light and life playing in your kind eyes, fully. You took my hands in yours, gazed with your soul into mine, as I gazed back into yours and kindly said to me in all sincerity, "Have you allowed yourself to trust me, yet? I know that you are afraid, terrified, but you have not yet allowed the Boy in me to show the Girl in you what it means to be loved. Allow me to take the lead, and I will prove to be to you, the Utopia of your sexual desires." I perceived no ulterior motives in your open face, peered not darkness in your eyes, felt no cold cruelty towards me in the warmth of your soul. And I realised in that moment, face-to-face, that the Girl in me trusts the Boy in you, implicitly. So I answered you from my heart, "Okay, if you want my trust, I will give it to you - I'll allow you to take the lead; the Boy in you may love the Girl in me... back to life." rhodenel©5JUN2024 *** JUST A BOY He’s so beautiful, Though just a boy, To the girl in me A lovely boy indeed. He kissed me once, I was surprised. He kissed me twice, I said: No more! And this dear boy Fell for, believed me; Mistook my flustered cheeks For heart felt apprehension. Now I sulk, poke and cry, Just sadness from the distance. I bite, scratch and claw, Just hopeless in frustration. Ache for him to come, Kiss me for a third time. Long for him to come; Hold me for a lifetime. He’s so beautiful. Though just a boy, To the girl in me A lovely boy indeed. rhodenel©12JAN2024
