You are listening to the tenth installment of the Orchestral Kirby series, dedicated to turning 8-bit favourites into orchestral deliciousness. The originals are all lifted from the HAL game "Kirby's Adventure" released on the NES console in 1993. The themes are written by Hirokazu Ando & Jun Ishikawa. The themes used in this video can be heard on the maps of world 1 (Vegetable Valley) and world 2 (Ice Cream Island). At first I doubted whether to use these ones, because their melodic content is virtually non existent. However they were cute and their rhythmic interest made the effort worthwhile. The Vegetable Valley Theme, for example, shifts up and down a half step continually but does so on the 2nd beat of the bar. Excellent stuff. Arrangement-wise I made this one a bit different from the other ones. For the first time I opted not to use any piano; I also hardly used any strings except for the intro's pizzicati. The main angle for the rest of the arrangement was to create the feeling of a marching band with woodwinds, brass and prominent percussion. Solo spotlights include bass-clarinet and xylophone. The latter plays the invincibility theme towards the end. I hope you enjoy the music here and the animation I made to go with it. Thank you so much for listening. Be seeing you.
