In early 2011, Erick Miotke and Torsten Schröder were planning to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their cult Dark Electro/EBM project TRIAL with a highly-anticipated gig at the Amphi Festival (July 16-17, 2011). On Easter day, Torsten dropped a bombshell on Erick and quit TRIAL for undisclosed reason. Consequently, Erick was left with no choice but to cancel the band’s participation in the high-profile festival, and this marked the abrupt end of TRIAL. In 2021, Electro Aggression Records (EAR) unleashed the monstrous anthology "Fur Zwei" 3CD+DVD (EAR 014) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of TRIAL. All good things must come to an end or so they say. However, every cloud has a silver lining. In late 2011, Erick met Jens Müller a longtime fan of TRIAL through a mutual friend. The frontman of the short-lived Dark Electro/EBM outfit Human R3source expressed a genuine interest in working withErick on a new project. It only took a few months to lay the building blocks of TRILOGY. “The initial phase was difficult, requiring absolute willpower, endurance, resilience, and patience,” recalls Jens. Erick, for his part, was determined to honour TRIAL’s legacy through TRILOGY, and pursue his musical journey with a charismatic singer under a new band name. In 2013, TRILOGY released their debut single “Combat Surfer” and engaged the crowds at live gigs by mixing brand new material with new interpretations of TRIAL classics. The response was astoundingly positive and subsequently, the band was invited to participate in notable events such as: WGT warm up, Familientreffen, E-Only Festival, NCN-Festival, and Maschinennsturm Festival. The duo put out ten singles and EPs, and fans started wondering if the debut album will ever be released. After years of hard work and dedication, TRILOGY finished recording their 18-track debut album “Forced Perspective” in late 2023. Soon afterwards, Electro Aggression Records started assembling the companion remix album “Alternative Perspective” featuring 18 creative remixes of each album track by highly influential Dark Electro/EBM bands. The record label boss Nader Moumneh (aka Mr. EAR) once said: “Old School Electrology is a crafty science” and his words remain true to this day! It took a couple of years to compile “Alternative Perspective.” Forced Perspective is a filming technique that employs optical illusion to make an object appear farther away, closer, larger or smaller than it actually is. Erick has his own interpretation of forced perspective. After the sudden departure of the TRIAL vocalist, Erick was forced into an unfamiliar situation, and he had to acclimate to change and see the world with different perspectives. The state of mind is constantly evolving, and it can adapt to various situations and challenges. In essence, our state of mind is a continuous process of adjustment and responsiveness to our surroundings. Hence, the lyrics of the album “Forced Perspective” may be interpreted differently depending on the listener’s personal experiences, individual surroundings, and social settings. “Forced Perspective” combines all loose threads from the past to present. Erick’s signature sound structure merges perfectly with Jens’ aggressive and powerful vocals, and resonates deeply with fans across generations. The mystical and moody gem-packed album is reminiscent of the early 1990s “Aggreppo” style as defined by seminal EBM acts like Armageddon Dildos, yet it still sounds incredibly modern.
