#marmolada #misurina #dolomites The Marmolada is the highest mountain in the Dolomites and part of the Marmolada group. It is a west-east running ridge that runs from Punta Penia (3343 m asl) via Punta Rocca (3309 m asl) and Punta Ombretta (3230 m asl) to Pizzo Serauta (3035 m asl) and Punta Serauta (3069 m s.l.m.) leads. This ridge breaks off to the south in a closed, two kilometer wide and up to 800 meter high cliff into the Ombretta valley. The comparatively gently sloping flank on the north side to Passo Fedaia carries the only larger glacier in the Dolomites (Ghiacciaio della Marmolada). MARMOLADA located in northeastern Italy, within the Dolomites, part of the Eastern Alps mountain range. It lies on the border between the regions of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Veneto, making it the highest massif in the Dolomites. The closest access point is the village of Malga Ciapela, and it is easily reachable from nearby towns such as Canazei or Arabba. Marmolada is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and unique natural value. The 'Passo di Giau'(el. 2236 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Dolomites in the province of Belluno in Italy. It connects Cortina d'Ampezzo with Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore. It is located at the center of a vast mountain pasture at the foot of Nuvolau(2,574 m) and dell'Averau(2,647 m) from which you can easily reach the Monte Pore(2,405 m). Impressive is the view west towards Colle Santa Lucia with the Pale di San Martino, Cime D'Auta, Marmolada, Piz Boe and Setsass, just to the east towards the valley of Cortina d'Ampezzo, with Tofane, Croda Rossa, Pomagagnon, Cristallo, Croda da Lago, etc. This video shows the drive from Lake Misurina through Cortina d'Ampezzo and Passo Giau to Malga Ciapela, where the Marmolada cable car station is located.
