On 19 May 1987, Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock unveiled his party's manifesto for that year's general election. Entitled "Britain Will Win", the document articulated a "modest" set of policies and pledges, designed to contrast with Labour's election-losing 1983 manifesto, which had been dubbed "the longest suicide note in history". In a speech as well as a post-event interview with ITN, Kinnock emphasised the sense of economic realism and fiscal responsibility that had shaped the manifesto's contents, and played down divides in the Labour Party over issues such as nuclear disarmament. #GeneralElection #GeneralElection2024 #Election2024 #UKPolitics #LabourParty #Manifesto #Manifesto2024 #Manifesto #NeilKinnock #Labour #Socialism #KeirStarmer To search the ITN Archive collection on Getty Images, follow the link below: https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/footage... 🎥 Subscribe to our YouTube channel (tap the bell icon and stay up to date with all the latest ITN Archive videos!) - / @itnarchive 🎥 Follow us on Twitter - / itnarchive 🎥 Like us on Facebook - / itnarchiveitnp 🎥 Check out our TikTok - / itnarchive1955
