This is why we asked our friends at Urban Forage to take us on a proper Cambodian food tour in Phnom Penh and it was both fun and thrilling in some way! Book a food tour with our friends from Urban Forage here: https://urbanforage.co/ Our Phnom Penh street food tour started with Num Bang Chok, a very flavourful noodle dish which we were able to try in two different broth one fish based and the other one curry. Let us tell you that the curry one with coconut milk the clear winner for the both of us. The second stop was a small family shop where we tried fresh coconut rice balls and num krouk, both a fun and light snack that are must tries while in Cambodia. Then things go real interesting real fast! We visited one of the most famous food stand in Phnom Penh called Ta Mab Koh Pich where we were able to try fried crickets, grasshoppers, silkworms and even a tarantula! This is not for the picky eater but if you are willing to try you will probably agree that the taste is not bad at all. As we continued our tuktuk ride around Phnom Penh, we stopped at another small family restaurant for some crispy pork belly inside fresh bread called Num Pang Sach. This is a popular sandwich sold all around Cambodia from morning to evening but most popularity made with pate which is great but as nothing on the pock belly version. If you like BBQ then you will love the chicken and pork ribs we've tried at the Russian Market of Phnom Penh. Don't worry if the skewers did not appeal to you, simply go for the chicken wings and pork ribs and you will be happy you tried. For our main meal of this food tour, we went to a restaurant called 54 for fish amok, beef lok lak, stir fries, grilled frog, kampot pepper shrimps and even beef tongue with red ants. Yes, you read that last one right! This is the perfect place to go with friends after a long day of exploring around Phnom Penh to enjoy some delicious food and live music. And because a meal is never completed without dessert, we visited a lade selling por pia road side and this was one of the highlight of the street food tour. Such a simple yet delicious dessert that anyone would enjoy.
