Bringing dogs backpacking can be a great experience. But it is important to really consider the amount and weight of the gear that you pack for your dog. Here is my basic list of items that I pack for a couple nights of backpacking with my dog, Glia. -Groundbird Gear Harness and Trekking Packs -Hands-Free leash (either Ruffwear or TuffMutt) -Dog Kibble (pre-portioned for each meal) -Squeeze pouch and Sawyer Mini filter for water -Lightweight dog bowl -Earth Rated Dog Poop Bags -Small Dog First Aid Kit -Dog Booties (in case paw protection is needed) -Fleece Blanket (for Glia to sleep on) -Sweater for Glia (if the night time temperature is expected to drop) -Tie-out line/cable (strong paracord can work well for this) You can find more information about each of the items we discuss in our related blog post on PawsitivelyIntrepid.com
