Ghoti This case report details the management of an 11-year-old boy presenting with fever, dry cough, and right hypochondrial pain, diagnosed with a hydatid cyst in the lung through imaging. The cyst was surgically removed via a right posterolateral thoracotomy under one-lung ventilation, using a double-lumen endotracheal tube (DLET or DLT) for anesthesia. Despite the lack of a standardized surgical approach, this case highlights the success of individualized, parenchyma-preserving surgery even for large, uncomplicated cysts. The positive outcome in this case underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach and conservative surgical management in the treatment of pulmonary hydatid cysts, suggesting that surgery remains the primary and effective treatment modality, ensuring a favorable prognosis.
