Lubera Citrus Trees Our citrus range of 60 varieties have an adventurous story to tell of travel and global tastiness! From India and China, through to the Middle East and the Mediterranean, many citrus have made their way across the globe.. In the Renaissance and the golden age of citrus cultivation, they were displayed luxuriously in the courts of Europe, and so arrived eventually in the UK. The life of a citrus is all glamour you know! Many citrus varieties have certainly been intrepid and at the same time learnt to be very tolerant to cold temperatures due to their areas of origin. We have found that many citrus can withstand 0°C or slightly below this temperature. At temperatures between 4° to 10°C they reduce their life functions (assimilation, water evaporation) so strongly that they can be overwintered simply by surprise. It is important that you use this adaptability (a kind of hibernation) and that you do not provide the citrus plants with too much warmth when there is too little light. We are convinced that for growing on terraces and balconies, citrus is much easier than you think too! http://www.lubera.co.uk/plants/fruit-...
