In the world of professional wrestling, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) was once a major stepping stone towards the spotlight. Recently, the Netflix documentary series Wrestlers shed light on the struggles OVW faces in filling its live event seats and boosting pay-per-view (PPV) sales.Equipped with this information, I felt compelled to examine OVW's YouTube channel to explore why its SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategy isn't converting viewers into ticket buyers and PPV buys. When visitors land on OVW's YouTube channel, one of the first things you may notice is an outdated trailer from 2020. While trailers may not hold great importance on a YouTube channel, an outdated video does give an impression of inactivity, which does Ohio Valley Wrestling no favors. OVW is regularly uploading new content, trying to capitalize on the buzz generated by the Wrestlers Netflix series, which is a positive sign. However, there's a critical issue with the lack of YouTube SEO implemented on video titles. OVW's video titles often include "OVW TV" followed by episode numbers. Unfortunately, this adds no SEO value and could confuse potential viewers, while also occupying vital space where actual keyword phrases could otherwise exist. Omitting "OVW TV" and properly formatting titles would make content more discoverable if the marketing team inserts actionable keywords, like the names of wrestlers featured in the video. Each video title is an opportunity to capture YouTube search traffic and connect with wrestling fans. The description section of OVW's YouTube videos is often empty, providing no information about where the wrestling match was filmed, upcoming events, or PPV details. This is a missed opportunity to lead viewers to ticket sales and PPV purchases. Additionally, there are no outbound links to buy OVW Live tickets or find information about future events. Even if viewers wanted to purchase a PPV, there's no clear path to do so via OVW's YouTube channel or videos. OVW's Community Tab, a prime location for promoting, remains completely unused This section could serve as a valuable tool for engagement, but it's currently empty. Engaging with fans or potential buyers through outbound links and event promotions can significantly boost sales of OVW's PPVs and even increase attendance at their weekly live shows. Thumbnail images play a crucial role in attracting viewers on YouTube and all other streaming platforms. OVW's thumbnails often lack variety, making it difficult for viewers to distinguish between videos. Thumbnails should entice and intrigue potential viewers, making them more likely to click. OVW should consider taking its weekly show live on YouTube. TV may have once been the primary platform for wrestling, but today YouTube has global reach. Going live could significantly boost engagement, attract new viewers, and translate into more ticket sales while drastically outpacing the 75 PPV buys they currently get. While Al Snow comes from an old school focused pro wrestling culture, the times have drastically changed in terms of the importance of television, especially on the local level. Rather than relying heavily on traditional media methods, Snow and his team should harness the power of YouTube Live, among other streaming platforms, to sell more live event tickets and ultimately increase overall ppv buys. Shorts are an untapped resource for OVW. Creating short clips featuring pivotal moments, both from the roster featured throughout the Wrestlers Netflix series or behind-the-scenes footage, can generate excitement and build upon the channel's reach quite quickly with minimal efforts. These short videos can serve as teasers, leading viewers to buy tickets or PPVs. Al Snow's Ohio Valley Wrestling has immense potential to boost ticket sales and PPV purchases by optimizing its YouTube channel. SEO, engaging thumbnails, live streaming, and community engagement can make a significant difference. With the newfound visibility from the Netflix series Wrestlers, OVW has a prime opportunity to harness the power of digital marketing and fill those seats. Wrestling fans around the world are watching, and OVW should seize this chance to shine. 00:00 Reviewing OVW's YouTube Channel 01:07 First Impressions of OVW TV YouTube Channel 01:48 Incorrect YouTube SEO in Video Titles 02:39 Incorrect Video Description SEO 02:52 Call to Action on Video End Screens 03:25 Can't Buy a PPV EVEN If I WANTED TO 03:41 Selling Tickets + PPV with YouTube Community Tab 04:34 Missed Opportunities on YouTube Channel Page 05:02 OVW TV Isn't LIVE on YouTube! 06:30 Good Vs Bad YouTube Thumbnails 07:38 Random OVW TV Video SEO Review 08:12 Netflix Wrestlers Series a WASTED Opportunity? 09:10 How OVW Can Fix Their YouTube Channel IMMEDIATELY 09:48 The Power of Combat Sports on YouTube Live 10:24 OVW Has ZERO YouTube Shorts, WHY?! 11:34 How Wrestlers on Netflix Has Affected OVW's YouTube Traffic 12:03 Final Thoughts on Wrestlers and OVW YouTube
