Review and Smoking a Nat Sherman MCD Gold Cigarette, which has been discontinued since mid-2019, to mine, and many other individual’s, dismay. NS, as a brand, first came into existence in 1930, starting off with cigars, but started to produce cigs as well in the 1950’s, supposedly due to a request from a customer, according to the brand at least. By the 1960’s, they had grown to become more well known than not, but still quite niche from an overall perspective, and was ubiquitous with quality, class, and luxury, of course, partially due to how the brand positioned and marketed itself, which was, of course, as a luxury brand. However, in 2017, Altria, the owner of Phillip Morris and Marlboro, purchased the brand for all of their products, and then, in mid 2020, discontinued everything except for four varieties of cigarettes. Sadly, the discontinuation that took place in 2020 also included these cigarettes right here as well, which is a shame, as they are quite the legendary cigarette, to me at least. The Nat Sherman MCD’s weren’t just one specific cigarette, instead being an entire line, containing, at their peak, from what I know at least, four different varieties; a Full Flavor, a Light, which is what I have with me today, an Ultra Light, and a Menthol. Sadly, it’s unclear exactly when this line of NS’s first came onto market, but I do know for sure that they were available during the late 1970’s, with the first variety introduced more than likely being the Full Flavors. If I had to guess, this specific variety probably came onto the market later down the line, maybe in the 1980’s, but I know nothing for sure, and it wouldn’t surprise me if I’m wrong. Of course, as previously stated, the entire lineup was discontinued back in 2020, making this pack, quite possibly, over three years old at this point in time, if not more.
