Reported Speech! Verb tenses, pronouns, time and place adverbs! English Lesson!

In this video, I explain in a very detailed way how to use Reported Speech correctly. Firstly I compare the differences between Direct Speech and Reported Speech, to continue with the concept of backshift – modifying the Verb Tense or Modal Verb into the Past – when and how to use it as well as when not to use it. We continue by explaining how to modify pronouns in Reported Speech (subject, object, possessive and reflexive pronouns and possessive adjectives). Then there is the matter of indefinite adverbs of time and place and demonstratives; how do we modify these and when? And these are the three concepts that may possibly vary comparing Direct Speech with Reported Speech. The following part deals with Reported Questions; the difference between Question Word Questions and Yes or no Questions, the construction that follows and I pay special attention to the Present and Past Simple in this case, as the construction gets modified. I also explain how to modify into Reported Speech when expressing an order or a request. To finish up, there are some exercises in order to practise everything learned with their explanation.
