All physicians who participate in ABIM’s Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA®) agree to abide by ABIM’s policies and procedures, including the Copyright and Examination Non-Disclosure Policy (https://www.abim.org/maintenance-of-c...) whereby they commit to refrain from sharing assessment content in any format. These policies prohibit conduct that undermine the validity of the assessment, like importing full question text into artificial intelligence (AI) tools, taking screenshots or sharing recalled questions in public discussion forums. Intentional or otherwise, instances of content sharing occur and have real consequences because they put the validity of the assessment at risk for everyone. In addition, violation of ABIM’s policies, including the Examination Ethics Policy (https://www.abim.org/maintenance-of-c...) and the Copyright and Assessment Non-Disclosure Policy (https://www.abim.org/maintenance-of-c..., may subject the physician to disciplinary sanction, including suspension or revocation of their certification. Furman S. McDonald, MD, MPH (https://www.abim.org/about/abim-leade..., President and CEO of ABIM and the ABIM Foundation, discusses why this is important and how all board certified physicians share the responsibility of protecting the validity of assessment by using it appropriately and refraining from sharing assessment content in any form. The integrity of the credential and the profession depends on every physician upholding the highest values of professionalism.
