For the video of the piano in the client's home click here:    • AFTER THE CONVERSION: Ibach 1905 overdampe...   Ibach are fine piano makers but the majority of those in the UK are overdampers, which means that the sound doesn't cut off well, especially in the treble from about C5 and above. Here we have replaced the whole action system for an underdamper one. This work is costly but Ibach uprights are so well made that it is worth it. NB: Perhaps 40% of all pianos in the UK are overdampers and most have very poor cut-off, some throughout the whole range. However, it's only advisable to replace the damping system on the top makers such as Bluthner, Ibach and possibly Gors and Kallmann, all of which have prolific numbers of overdamper pianos in the UK.
