It took about 4.5 to 5 hours one way, so it was quite a challenging 1-night, 2-day trip to Samcheok, but I still had a good time. Accommodation Samcheok Sol Beach Samcheok is quite far, so I had always wanted to visit, and this time my husband's friend made a reservation for us. The room condition was better than expected, and the fact that it had three bathrooms was a big plus. It seemed perfect for a family trip. Restaurants Ulleungdo Pumpkin House As you saw in the video, the grandmother who runs the place is incredibly passionate. Even when there were other group guests or customers with cars, she didn't always feed every child, but she seemed to go out of her way to take care of our family, especially when she saw our two kids. She even gave us some soda as a service right after we sat down. While I initially wanted some quiet time for myself during the meal, she filled our glasses to the brim, and I ended up emptying my heart later. 😅 A story not covered in the video is that she makes the tofu herself. It's not even a tofu specialty restaurant, but because she makes a lot at once, she mentioned freezing it. Personally, I don't prefer the texture of frozen tofu, so I think it would be fine to buy tofu and add it to the dish. The pumpkin makgeolli had a slightly soda-like flavor, a refreshing fruity taste, and was really delightful. You should definitely give it a try. The other side dishes were delicious as well. As for the dried fish, it was quite dry, especially the dried stone flounder. I was told you can't find it in other places. Goseonsaeng Most of what I mentioned in the video is already covered. It's a typical tourist restaurant. I've been to many grilled fish restaurants, and the price-to-portion ratio was not great, the food wasn't particularly clean, and the "Jeju-style hairtail stew" wasn't that great either. Anyways, that's all for now. Bumyeong Son Kalguksu I wanted to eat Ongsimi, and my husband wanted to eat kalguksu, but they had a menu called Ongsimi Kalguksu where you could taste both, which was great. I once waited a long time to eat at the first place that made Jang Kalguksu in Sokcho, but the one we had in Samcheok was much tastier. I'd definitely go back if I ever visit Samcheok again.
